This past Saturday was our second Forged group training. Although we made the trainings optional, the hope was that we would see everybody there. Training for your black belt is a big milestone, and if you aren't willing to make it to these trainings, this isn't the year. I know it seems harsh, and I know some people had reasons for not making it, but we are just a few months away and I still feel like we have a lot of work to do. That being said, we still have time to really focus on our training as we come closer to the test.
The reason I was not present on Saturday was because I was sick. Your health is a very important part to your test, and although we want to feel like we're pushing ourselves to the limit, we must watch our health. It doesn't matter how many push ups and sit ups you've done, or how many acts of kindness or forms repetitions you've done if you're not in one piece in October. If you are sick or injured, take a break and recover so you are back to 100% next class. Coming back today, I still wasn't 100%, and I felt it. However, it was very fun to come back to class to train with everyone!
You may not have been able to go to Saturday training Jonathan, but you really brought it when you came back on Monday! It was pretty clear you weren't feeling too great yet, but you never dropped the intensity of your punches, kicks, etc. You have a true black belt attitude, focus and drive. :)
