Environmental Act

Today we went to Aloha-Huber Park to do a clean-up.  We walked around the field and picked up bottles, cans, and plastic bags.  We also found half of a watermelon.  I was really disappointed to see so many things just lying around at a school field.  I know it's summer and school's out, but we should still treat the schools with respect.  Many families have picnics during the summer, which could cause an increase in litter.  As a black belt tester, it is our responsibility to take the initiative and clean these parks up.  Cleaning up the trash helps keep the environment healthy, as well as making the experience great for future visitors.

  1. Jonathon,

The same thing happened to me when I cleaned up Hare Field which I like to use for aerobic and technique exercises on off days from the dojo.

There I found some food in styrafoam containers that had been sitting in the parking lot so long that it stunk. I had to throw the garbage bag in the trash to keep from puking. Then I finished my planned clean up with a spare garbage bag.

I have gotten to the point that I have a box of garbage bags in my car at all times now.

Too bad people make me feel it is necessary to do this.

    Steven
